Field training Officer

This 40-hour course is designed to provide officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of an FTO effectively. The course covers how to effectively conduct a field training program and includes topics such as: Role of the FTO, Liability, Communications Skills, Ethics and Professionalism and the Fundamentals of Law Enforcement Training. Successful completion of this course will meet the training requirement criteria for the P.O.S.T. Field Training Officer Certification.

Pre-Requisites

POST Rule 464-13-03 Field Training Officer Certification has been amended by dropping the two years at an agency requirement.

You must still have three years of Law Enforcement experience and complete the 40-hour course for Field Training Officers.

Please note: After successful completion of the course, officers are responsible for completing the POST online application for FTO certification.
